Royal BC Museum
For a comprehensive history lesson of the province, head to Royal BC Museum--a premier cultural institution known for its impressive collection of some 7 million objects. Start your tour in the section on British Columbia's natural history, where you can view informative dioramas designed to educate in a visually engaging and entertaining way. Next, make your way to the exhibit dedicated to Canada's indigenous First Nations, featuring a famous mask gallery. Wrap it up at the modern history section, which includes a replica of a cobblestoned street from the early 20th century. Check the website for special exhibits and a schedule of upcoming IMAX screenings. For Royal BC Museum and beyond, use our Victoria trip planner to get the most from your Victoria vacation.

There is so much to explore. You could easily spend 5 hours here just going around exploring and reading. It really feels like you are going back in time decades even centuries with all the amazing artifacts and displays. Each area makes you feel like you are actually in that time era. Really amazing feeling. Definitely a place worth exploring. Don't know how busy it gets during week days and Saturday but I went there on Sunday and there was not much people which gives more room and freedom for yourself. The people in front desk are very friendly and nice. Really enjoyed that.

Beautiful facility but as of April 24 they were reinstalling exhibits so the only thing to see was a small natural history exhibit…. But the life sized elephant display is pretty great! We enjoyed the imax experience very much (there’s a concession stand and they let you take food and drink into the theater 👍🏾) but the line to buy tickets was unnecessarily confusing.
