Create an itinerary including Památník Terezín - Malá pevnost
Just an hour outside Prague, Památník Terezín - Malá pevnost is a former military fort that played a grim role in World War II. Originally built in the 18th century to strengthen the city's defenses against Prussia, the fortress never saw a real battle, eventually becoming a ghetto and concentration camp for Jews from Czechoslovakia, Germany, and Austria. Although never officially designated as an extermination camp, the ghetto saw the deaths of over 30,000 people, caused in large part by appalling living conditions. Today, this site contains a memorial complex preserving some of the buildings used to house thousands of prisoners. Visit the on-site museum for an in-depth look at the ghetto's role in the "Final Solution." Památník Terezín - Malá pevnost is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.

  • We spent an amazing morning with Pavel at the Terezin Ghetto. We learned so much. Pavel was so engaging and passionate that he brought this experience to life. We are so glad that we had a guide...

  • The whole town is involved in tourism related to the ghetto. There is no real guidance, you are given a map and you have to manage on your own. The arrival was also really complicated, 2 trains and a lot of walking. It is recommended to come with an guide and/or a vehicle
  • Interesting walk around ghetto and the history surrounding this place , the museum was very good and informative and a short movie with a propaganda video included
