It is often said that Germany touches the sky at Zugspitze, which features the highest peak in the country. It's also one of the country's most popular ski resorts. Rising nearly 3,000 m (9,700 ft) above sea level, this mountain was first conquered in 1820 by military officer and surveying technician Josef Naus. Today, you can choose one of three routes to the summit. You can reach the top much easier than Naus and his team did: Choose one of three cable cars running up and down these slopes. They transport about 500,000 people each year. Nine ski lifts cover the area during the peak of the winter season. Both hikers and skiers can find two well-known alpine huts on the western slopes of the mountain. You can purchase tickets for the ski areas online. Our Garmisch-Partenkirchen trip builder makes visiting Zugspitze and other Garmisch-Partenkirchen attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Amazing peak view to the glacier! Went there twice. The first time was foggy so not able to see such a beautiful view but did enjoy the snow. Luck that having this clear weather when we went the second time. Enjoy the snow sledding if you don’t ski.

A must when in the area! Also check out lake Eibsee at the bottom! Loved the experience! I went to Zugspitze to enjoy the picturesque view over mountains, and it was one of the most memorable trips. I took the cable car to go up, and then used another cable car to go down to ski slopes (you can use this one unlimited if you buy the standard adult ticket). Breathtaking views, few nice cafes on the top to go and enjoy a light snack/ meal or a coffee. Would really recommend, even if you aren’t a skier!
