Maria Laeng Kapelle, Regensburg

The Catholic chapel Maria Läng is a baroque hall building with groin vaulting from 1675. The chapel is an old house chapel on the ground floor of a former canon's courtyard. It houses a figure of Mary, which is supposed to represent St. Mary in her true length. The chapel is located in Pfauengasse 2, near the southern cathedral square. The chapel has been one of the most popular prayer rooms in the old town of Regensburg since it was built at the end of the 17th century. The unusual part of the name "Läng" of the chapel refers to the old cultic religious idea of ​​recognizing and knowing the exact length of Mary's body in order to obtain blessing or healing powers or the fulfillment of wishes

A Place of Faith. Not as pompous as in the cathedral. This chapel is in a residential building and tiny. There is a book in which to write your prayers, wishes and sorrows and thanksgiving. Marie wakes up tall and kind. This place gives me a lot of strength, even though I'm evangelical. Whenever I'm in Regensburg, my path leads me to this special place. Here I feel God especially.
