Create an itinerary including St. Gellert Thermal Bath and Swimming Pool
Combine the medicinal healing of St. Gellert Thermal Bath and Swimming Pool with the rich history of the famous Hotel Gellért. Explore the grand hotel and baths, which opened in 1918, and view the stunning main hall, marble balconies, and ornate mosaic terraces. Learn about the hot thermal springs, dating back to the 13th century, and the site itself, which was a hospital during the Middle Ages and a bath during Ottoman rule. The beautiful Art Nouveau women's bath was destroyed during World War II but has been rebuilt and renovated multiple times--as recently as 2008--to restore it to its original grandeur. Experience the natural healing powers of these springs, which supposedly can help relieve joint pain, inflammation, asthma, and other issues, or simply relax in the pools for a spa day. • Thermal baths in an old hotel, frequented by tourists and locals alike. We paid about EUR17 for entry. The outdoor hot bath was full and the other one was being fixed. The wave pool was not switched on and was being used as a swimming pool. Nice place for sun tanning in summer. Indoor experience was much better - we enjoyed the hot and cold pools, steam rooms and showers - this experience made the tickets worthwhile. The operators should consider disallowing shoes in locker room. Bring slippers or you will be stepping on dirty floors with wet feet. Lockers were provided free of charge. The staff could also provide more directions when issuing the tickets, and were slightly impolitely chasing people out once it hit closing time. Nice for a first time.
  • Awesome place. For me perhaps the Number One recreational attraction in Budapest, the Spa centre of the World. I was there for 4 hours, but there's no time limit. My advice is go on a Weekday and get there early. I was there at opening time, 9.00am but it starts to get busy by 11.00am. Five Thermal Pools inside and one outside either 36C or 40C. Two swimming pools, one inside and one outside but both at 26C. Steam room, Ice Cold Plunge Pool (Inside & Out) and Two adjoining Saunas, one 70C the other 80C. The outside area, where there are loads of sun loungers, was almost unused when I visited. There is a restaurant/caffe here also, so bring a robe if you want to use. Basically you could spend all day here so really not bad value for a day's entertainment. Note, you must wear flip flops within the complex but you can buy these at the shop near the ticket office. Also shower/swim cap required in the swimming pools, but not the Thermal Pools. Wrist Band electronic lockers and plenty of shower facilities.
