Built on the site of Saddam Hussein's former military base and detention camp, Sami Abdulrahman Park draws scores of locals for relaxation and recreation. Favored by families and wedding parties, the park boasts rolling green lawns, lakes with fountains, rose gardens, children's playgrounds, and a small amphitheater. Take a jog along the running track, or simply stroll the tree-lined pathways and soak in the atmosphere. The park commemorates a former prime minister that was one of nearly 100 people who lost their lives in a 2004 terrorist attack. See their names inscribed in the memorial monument, together with words "Freedom is not free." Great place to go in the mornings for exercise. In the evenings, it will get quite crowded with many families coming to visit bringing food and spending time with the family. Very nice park overall.

Amazing for walking, jogging, and running. The weather is totally different inside the park because of the density grasses and trees. A perfect place for photography and good scenes. Also it is good for families and kids. Some times the park gets very crowded, however it doesn't feel bad as for the extreme area spaces designed inside.

The perfect place for picnics! The atmosphere is great and you can breathe some fresh air inside. A good place for a get-together day. It is spacious which offers plenty of calm places to spend your time. Variety of activities can be done there. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars because: 1- The restaurants are not well-distributed in the park. So you have to walk a lot to reach any rest if you get hungry. Bring your food so you’ll be on the safe side :) 2- It is dark at night when walking.
