The house where Alexander Pushkin spent three years in exile from Russia, Alexander Pushkin Museum offers a glimpse into the life of this literary giant. Born into Russian nobility and exiled for his political beliefs, Pushkin wrote his famous poem "The Prisoner of the Caucasus" in this house. Containing writings and drawings by the great poet, the museum spreads across the original cottage and a nearby house. Exhibits include books and paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries, a sculpted bust of Pushkin, and period furnishings. Make sure you have good directions, as the museum is tucked away and can be hard to find. Guides will give you a tour in English or Russian. Make Alexander Pushkin Museum part of your personalized Chisinau itinerary using our Chisinau road trip website.

Probably the only place in Chisinau that is worthy of a must-visit for travelers from any country. It is thanks to Pushkin that most people learn about the existence of this town.

Brilliant museum. Well worth a visit for Pushkin aficionados. The 100 lei paid at the time of writing is well worth the price for a guided tour of the museum and exhibitions. There are a lot of very interesting things to do with Pushkin’s time in Moldova, including the style of pipes he used to smoke, maps of where he has visited and stayed, his own sketches and writing, etc.

Small museum with 5 rooms and two cats (who I called "Pushkin"), Entry is about a euro. My only complaint (as an entitled English speaker) is that only the Guidebook is in English, not the artifacts. Because of this, I don't know what I am looking at. This could also be achieved with QR codes.
