El Ceibo Museums
Gain insight into the lives of the indigenous people of Ometepe at El Ceibo Museums, boasting one of the vastest collections of pre-Columbian artifacts in the country. Displays include pre-Hispanic petroglyphs and ornaments such as urns, grindstones, and stone tools. The museum's other component, the history of the Nicaraguan coin, details each form of currency heralded by presidential change. Pay special attention to some of the oldest pieces, including a flint spearhead in the shape of a fish dating back around 5,600 years. PutEl Ceibo Museums into our Isla de Ometepe planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

The museums were both really nice. We had a very detailed and great tour from the woman at the reception. She was really interested in the topics of the museums and took a lot of time, answering all our questions and showing everything with great and catching excitement. Thanks a lot again for the great, authentic tour and the self-made drink :) It’s great if someone is so well informed and interested of a topic.

USA Traveler: My friend and I went here and we bought the excavation tour. There's a history of the coins tour too. One tour for 5$ or both for 8$. The girl was very nice and funny. She spoke English very well and gave us the tour. You'd need to have a tour guide because there's no information in the rooms, just displays. Spent maybe just over an hour there. Small shopping area. Bathrooms if needed. Very interesting and good information on the tour! Oh and there were bats on the ceiling just outside of where you entered!!!
