Enjoy panoramic views from Olumo Rock, a massive outcrop of granite and a natural shelter. Used as a fortress by Egba people against the advancing Fulani in the early 19th century, the rock is dotted by numerous caves with traditional stoneware and tools. A modern nine-story observation tower will take you up to the level of the caves; follow a skywalk to the ancient hideouts, or free climb the rock. From the terrace on top, take in a sweeping view of Abeokuta's roofs sprawling across the horizon. A popular tourist attraction, the site also has an arts and crafts center selling souvenirs. This is both a cultural and natural wonder. Please ask about the history of the town that got it's name from the rock. This site is a marvel and is sacred to the people.
