Create an itinerary including Intihuatana Stone
See if you can use the solar clock at Intihuatana Stone to tell the time, as the Inca people of Machu Picchu did so many centuries ago. This "hitching post of the sun" symbolizes the spiritual importance of the sun, which was considered a god, to the Inca culture. High priests would perform sacred rituals around the stone clock, beseeching the diety not to desert them and their people, and to bestow upon them a bountiful harvest. Visit the solar clock with a guide to get a full understanding of its importance. To visit Intihuatana Stone and other attractions in Machu Picchu, use our Machu Picchu route builder website.
