Create an itinerary including Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu
Explore the ruins of Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu, a 15th-century Incan community perched 2,430 m (7,970 ft) above sea level, on a mountain ridge overlooking the Sacred Valley. The partially restored site, built in the typical Incan style of polished dry-stone walls, spreads across multiple man-made terraces. Climb the path that extends above the complex to view the tiered ruins from above, and enjoy commanding views of the spectacular scenery that surrounds it. Built around 1450, possibly as an estate for the Incan emperor Pachacuti, the site was abandoned only a century later during the Spanish conquest. Incredibly, the Spanish conquistadors never learned of the site's existence, and it remained unknown to the wider world until 1911. In 2007, an online poll voted the now renowned site one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. • Just go...nothing more to be written about this place. Pictures don't do it justice. Hopefully you have a clear weather day..

  • I mean this is one of the seven wonders of the world and pretty much speaks for itself, the view is more amazing than pretty much anywhere else on earth! I'd highly recommend getting tickets in advance to avoid the lines as well as wearing light clothing that covers your arms and legs to protect from both the sun and insects. Don't forget a wide brimmed hat, but you can get one on the way!
  • Utterly breathtaking. I have no words. Absolutely magnificent. Gem in the rain forest. Must go place. Strongly recommend getting a tour guide.
