Palace of Catalan Music
Each year more than half a million people enjoy the musical performances at Palace of Catalan Music, which was placed on the World Heritage List in 1997. Designed by architect Domenech i Montaner, this exquisitely ornamented structure was built between 1905 and 1908, and originally served as home to the Orfeo Catalá musical society. Widely regarded as a masterpiece of Catalan architecture, the building is a fine example of the Modernist style, featuring elements made of tiles, stones, and bricks. Try to attend a concert, but at the very least arrange to join a guided tour of the site’s famous auditorium, known for its blue-gold stained glass skylight and the sculpture of Wagner’s Valkyries. Beautifully designed. Wherever you look, there is something of real beauty. We got to hear a rehearsal, and the acoustics are fabulous.

Went to see a concert here while in Barcelona. Was absolutely blown away by this place- so beautiful. The amount of time and care that went into creating this is astounding. Be prepared for lots of stairs if you're in the upper level like I was, but absolutely worth it as you are so close to that spectacular glass dome. Not a bad seat in the house, intimate, beautiful!

One of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen. The tile work is incredible and the stained glass artwork next level. It was well worth it to get a guided tour to understand the story of the 18 muses representing music from different parts of the world and the inspiration behind the building. I only wished the gift store had been open so I could have a keepsake.
