Gateway to the World

As the country's biggest port and one of the busiest in all of Europe, Hamburg has a well-deserved reputation as Germany's Gateway to the World.
Venture out of the city with trips to Bremen (Der Bremer Roland, Bremer Rathaus, &more). There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at Miniatur Wunderland, get to know the fascinating history of Speicherstadt, get a sense of history and politics at Hamburg Town Hall, and take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Michael's Church.

Traveling by train from Berlin to Hamburg takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In July in Hamburg, expect temperatures between 27°C during the day and 15°C at night. On the 15th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
