Nicaragua's largest and capital city, Managua remains relatively unknown as a tourist destination, though it boasts a scenic location on the southwestern shore of the Xolotlan Lake.
Get some cultural insight at Iglesia de La Merced and Santiago of Managua Cathedral. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Managua: Granada (ChocoMuseo Granada, Catedral de Granada, &more) and Playa de Pochomil (in San Rafael del Sur). San Juan del Sur — 4 nights

Set in a crescent-shaped bay, San Juan del Sur has become known as a popular surfing spot and coastal holiday destination for Nicaraguan families and international visitors alike.
We've included these beaches for you: La Flor Beach Natural Reserve and Playa Hermosa. Step out of San Juan del Sur to go to Playa Redonda and see Playa Redonda, which is approximately 1h 10 min away. Traveling by car from Managua to San Juan del Sur takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in August, and nighttime lows around 29°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Leon.
