The cultural, economic, and political center of the country, Vienna has developed from its early Celtic and Roman roots into a medieval and Baroque city, with an old town that was designated a World Heritage Site in 2001.
Get a sense of the local culture at Schonbrunn Palace and Belvedere Palace. Change things up with a short trip to Naturpark Mannersdof-Wuste in Mannersdorf am Leithagebirge (about 42 minutes away). The adventure continues: make a trip to St. Stephen's Cathedral, admire the striking features of Haus der Musik Wien, examine the collection at Hofburg, and get a taste of the local shopping with Mariahilfer Strasse.
