Managua — 31 nights

Bride of Xolotlan
Nicaragua's largest and capital city, Managua remains relatively unknown as a tourist destination, though it boasts a scenic location on the southwestern shore of the Xolotlan Lake. You've now added Show Me Nicaragua Tours to your itinerary. Get out of town with these interesting Managua side-trips: Masaya (Museo del Parque Volcan De Masaya, Masaya Volcano, &more), Granada (Mombacho, Old Railway Station, &more) and Iglesia San Juan Bautista (in Masatepe). Pack the 22nd (Mon) with family-friendly diversions at Parque Acuatico Salvador Allende. There's still lots to do: make a trip to Puerto Salvador Allende, pause for some serene contemplation at Santiago of Managua Cathedral, get outside with MundoVentura, and look for gifts at Mercado Roberto Huembes.
To see more things to do, where to stay, other places to visit, and other tourist information, read our Managua road trip website.
If you are flying in from Mauritania, the closest major aiport is Augusto C. Sandino (Managua) International Airport.
