Discover the plays of the Bard of Avon the way they were meant to be seen, at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. an authentic reproduction of the open-air theater once established by the playwright's playing company, the Lord Chamberlain's Men. The modern playhouse sits roughly 230 m (750 ft) from the site of the original. Between performances, take a guided tour of the theater, and browse exhibitions highlighting Shakespeare and theater in the 16th and 17th centuries. If watching a play while exposed to the elements doesn't appeal, the adjoining Jacobean theater recreates the style of indoor playhouse for which Shakespeare also wrote. A unique experience to be in such a theater! It is completely different from all the theater buildings you have seen so far. It is open in the center and the seats are all around wood, you can get cushions to sit more comfortably at extra cost. The plays that are played are of course all of Shakespeare. I highly recommend it. We had a great time even though it was a little cold.

We went on a short guided tour but unfortunately didn't have time to watch a play. The experience would have probably been better if we had. The tour was fun and informative, and I think worth it, otherwise you won't be able to see the inside of the theater. The gift shop is also worth a browse. Found these miniature books and just had to have them!
