Create an itinerary including Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
Discover the plays of the Bard of Avon the way they were meant to be seen, at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. an authentic reproduction of the open-air theater once established by the playwright's playing company, the Lord Chamberlain's Men. The modern playhouse sits roughly 230 m (750 ft) from the site of the original. Between performances, take a guided tour of the theater, and browse exhibitions highlighting Shakespeare and theater in the 16th and 17th centuries. If watching a play while exposed to the elements doesn't appeal, the adjoining Jacobean theater recreates the style of indoor playhouse for which Shakespeare also wrote. • This was definitely worth experiencing! I was late in booking tickets, so we saw an afternoon performance of Julius Caesar. The actors were phenomenal. We had great seats on the middle level...

  • A wonderful visit to see a fantastic performance of The Tempest at the atmospheric Globe Theatre. It was an exceptionally hot day, which meant those in the front rows of the Middle Gallery were in direct sunlight. The stewards were excellent at moving people to cooler slots. Recommend seats in row D in the Middle Gallery which is in the shade & the benefit of a wooden back. Cushions a must! Hire them or bring your own. Staff as always are friendly, professional & helpful.
  • £5 to stand in "the pit", absolute bargain! Every member of the cast was excellent. We went for the Audience Choice on a Saturday afternoon. You're given three choices of play and the one that gets the biggest cheer from the audience is the one they perform. Great way to introduce our children (9 and 11) to Shakespeare as it makes it fun for them. Also, being the Globe it has a certain gravitas over a standard theatre.
