Create an itinerary including Muncaster Castle
A privately owned castle on the border of England and Scotland, Muncaster Castle is said to have a resident ghost. Before the sun sets and the ghost begins to wander, visit the castle's interior, still partially occupied by the same family that has owned it since 1208. The great hall and 14th-century watchtower, emblematic of the region's castle architecture, are highlights of the tour. Also on the grounds are an owl sanctuary, a maze, and landscaped gardens. Buy your tickets at the castle. You can stay on the grounds at the Coachman's Quarters lodging. • Been to Muncaster Castle and Gardens a few times and it's always so enjoyable and relaxing. Great for both adult and kids. The house has amazing history and the gardens are stunning also. Had a lovely few hours there with my daughter. Will definitely go again. The Owl display was great with the owls swooping through the audience brilliant. If you go to the front of the house along the the terrace there are stunning views across the valley, hills and mountains.
  • We had a really lovely day here. Nice grounds and beautiful scenery. Castle is very interesting and the curator talks are worth listening to. Don't miss the owls and birds of prey displays they are amazing. You can tell the staff love their jobs too which is lovely x
