Tour a royal garden at Highgrove Gardens, surrounding the family residence of the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall. The lush establishment maintained by the prince since 1980 features a number of scented plants including honeysuckle, holboellia, and thyme. The wildflower meadow pays particular attention to native endangered species such as ragged robin, meadow crane's bill, and ox-eye daisies. A guide will tell you all about Prince Charles's gardening style. Book in advance and bring some ID with you, but leave your camera behind. • What a wonderful place, can't call it a garden, as there are wooded areas , wild flower meadows, the kitchen garden and several gardens of various sizes with different features to admire. The guide we had on our tour was extremely knowledgeable, as I'm sure all the guides are, about the history of Highgrove and Prince Charles's commitment to the continued progression of the various areas, as a preserve of the ecosystem he has established.. Can highly recommend Highgrove as a great place to visit, even if you're not a gardener, which I am not.
  • Stunning beautifully planned gardens. Not at all formal but allowed to run naturally with lots of crazy topiary and clever vistas from the house. Wonderful mature planting now and a stunning wild flower meadow. Definitely worth the cost and will return in different seasons as there is interest all year round. No photos allowed but the shop courtyard is lovely
