In a country full of outstanding medieval fortresses, Warwick Castle is one of the most magnificent. Originally built by William the Conqueror in 1068, the castle today features imposing ramparts and towers looming over manicured green lawns and the Avon River. It also hosts a lively scene of historical interpreters reenacting medieval life. Check out the trebuchet, a giant catapult that interpreters have shot some 6,500 times since its introduction in 2005. Head down to the castle dungeon to meet a torturer, a judge, and the castle cook. Try to catch a free tour to learn about the defensive purposes of some of the castle's most prominent features. Exhibits and performances change constantly, so check the schedule before you visit. If you visit on a Saturday, consider staying into the evening for the extravagant Kingmaker's Medieval Banquet in the great hall. Make Warwick Castle a centerpiece of your Warwick vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Warwick tour planner.

  • 50 pounds per person and nothing to see. Only interesting part was birds of prey. Otherwise the castle is boring.

  • A splendidly well maintained castle with very nice views from top and from gardens. Lots of rooms to cover indoors which are preserved immaculately. At the Kingmaker, you could actually feel and smell the medieval times. The maze was fun. The falcon show was also a nice entertainment. Stuff at the souvenir shop was expensive though. The parking is expensive at £10 for the day at Stables car park. If you can finish your visit within 2 hours then there is cheaper on street parking available nearby. The tower had around 500 stairs through a narrow alley. You cannot reach the top without being out of breath. It is not suitable for young kids, physically challenged and pregnant women. Overall a really nice place to spend the day
  • Great place for a day out. The castle itself is impressive but more than manageable to visit in a day or even a few hours. There are a lot of activities, mostly targeted towards children, but equally as fun for adults. The birds of prey show is very engaging. There are plenty of options for food and drinks around the grounds. Recommend buying your tickets in advance.
