The belfry of Old North Church & Historic Site is where Paul Revere got his signal for the midnight ride. It is the oldest church still standing in the city and is classified as a National Historic Landmark. The whitewashed interior reflects light from the many clear windows. The layout of the building was inspired by British architect Christopher Wren, the man responsible for rebuilding London after the great fire. Consider taking a behind-the-scenes tour with the church staff through the crypt below. Inquire about tours at the church. Come for the history, stay for the elegant architecture and serene atmosphere. This is where the famous lanterns were hung during Paul Revere's midnight ride, though it now commemorates the friendship between the United States and England. The Queen of England even visited here, and there are photos commemorating her. An air of solace hangs about this building, and it is a noble, elegantly unpretentious structure. There is more information than you could ever want to know, and it is readily available. There is a fee to go in, but it is only $5, a small price to pay in my view. Be sure to see the view of the church from the park, especially on a clear day. Looking past the Paul Revere statue, gleaming in the sunlight, to the celestial white spire of the church is an experienced both historically resonant and lyrically poetic.

This was a great stop. I think I was more excited then the kids. Just seeing the church, walking through it and seeing all the pictures and history inside was awesome. The best part was the crypto tour. Going under the church and seeing all the crypts, walls floors and structure was really cool. The history here is unbelievable. Worth the $ for the tour's.
