Heritage Museums & Gardens offers landscaped gardens, walking trails, galleries, sculpture, and more. Stroll around the public gardens, which cover 40.5 hectares (100 acres), and see the rhododendrons, a legacy of former owner Charles O. Dexter, who was a celebrated rhododendron hybridizer. Visit the automobile gallery to view the museum's permanent collection of antique and classic cars, including a 1909 white steam car model M that was owned by President William Taft. Head to the American art and carousel gallery to ride one of the antique, hand-carved horses that adorn the 1908 carousel. Grab a bite to eat at the Magnolia Cafe or bring a picnic to enjoy on the grounds. To visit Heritage Museums & Gardens on your trip to Sandwich, use our Sandwich travel route planner.

A beautiful location, acres of gardens, but lots of out of the way spots to have some peace and quiet. Enjoy coming here multiple times each year to see the different flowers and plants in bloom...

We really enjoyed our visit to the beautiful gardens and the fabulous antique car museum. This is a wonderful attraction. The cars were in amazing condition and the building was just perfect for viewing them. The detailed information about all of the cars was very informative and interesting. The gardens were beautiful and the walking paths were well laid out. They were so many things to see in addition to flowers and plants too. They have a carousel, a windmill, a treehouse and much more. Well done.

What a magical place. I wish we could have stayed longer. If you're in the area this is A MUST SEE!! It was so inspiring to immerse yourself in such natural and man made beauty. I love the detail that goes into every inch of this place from the children's playground to the gardens to the Shaker inspired structures. It's a one of kind museum and I'm so glad we got to see it. Thank you to everyone that makes the museums and gardens possible.
